A charitable thought

Sonia Rykiel Carré d’Espoir

Leading up to Christmas is always a fun time to go to charitable auctions in Paris! The combo of fashion designer/celebrity + charity always works wonders, and has the added advantage of making everyone feel good!

Tomorrow evening Dessine l’Espoir will be holding their vente aux enchères featuring 20 designers like Sonia Rykiel and Alber Elbaz, in an effort to raise awareness and support for their charitable actions throughout Africa. Fashion cares? Sold!

Miss France in 2008

Le Calendrier des Miss France 2008

A calendar of Miss France? In any other country this would be a cheesy addition to an automobile garage or a men’s sporting facility, but in France Peter Lindberg snaps the former Misses France and Yves Saint Laurent dresses them! This is good. This is how it should be.

Le calendrier des Miss France, au profit de l’association ELA qui lutte contre la leucodystrophie. Available now in FNAC and from Nov. 23rd in kiosque.

Rugby Rocks!

Boucheron

They say that rugby is the gentleman’s sport – so gentlemen wanting to buy some more time in the pub or in front of the screen for the Rugby World Cup might want to think of offering this little bauble in pink gold and green tourmaline! Apart of the L’Art Emmêlé collection, which will be showcased at a special auction and gala dinner to benefit the Laureus Fondation on October 18th. BTW Allez les Bleus!!

The world according to.. Christian Lacroix!

Hotel Le Bellechasse, Paris

I adore Christian Lacroix! Despite his many years in the industry he is still a creative genius: inspiring others, and open to be inspired himself. This year he celebrated his 20th year creating haute couture, no mean feat, and certainly cause for celebration! M. Lacroix seems ever the artist: totally in love with colour, form, volume; his clothing is so French, and so wonderfully full of life and character!

With no sign of slowing down, the Centre National du Costume de Scène in Moulins currently celebrates Lacroix’s devotion to the arts, and to the world of theatre and dance, by staging “Christian Lacroix, costumier”. Closer to the end of the year we can also look forward to “Christian Lacroix, Histoires de Mode” held at the Musée de la Mode et du Textile, an intimate examination of Lacroix’s view of the history of fashion. Also supporting Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, Lacroix has designed a limited-edition yellow jersey for the Tour de France (available in Tour outfitters and Galeries Lafayette during the month of July). And re-opening tomorrow (Saturday the 21st), is the Hotel Le Bellechasse, the newest Lacroix venture into the world of luxury hotels. Perfect for the man who has yet to stop dreaming!
