Hello Mrs. Robinson
John Galliano’s show at Dior yesterday afternoon was a swinging sixties trip to the Valley of the Dolls! Big-haired super-groomed Barbies walked the catwalk, oozing with high-octane glamour! Colours were bright magentas, turquoises, lemons, and limes; prints were psychedelic; and the exotic skins were totally drool-worthy!

Krazy for Karl
Having recently told press he could never think of retiring like Valentino (“Fashion is about today and tomorrow, not about yesterday. If you have to be taken seriously because you have a heavy past, I don’t think it’s a good thing. I don’t want to remember, I want to do things and go ahead.”) the Karl Lagerfeld machine keeps pumping: Rodolphe Marconi’s “Karl Lagerfeld Confidentiel” hits theatres on Oct. 10th, and Lagerfeld himself will be the guest Editor-in-Chief of Paris Première programming on Oct. 12th (he has scheduled programmes like the Actors Studio with Johnny Depp; and movies like Robert Wiene’s The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari). He edited October’s German Vogue supplement (including shoots with Claudia Schiffer in Deauville), and will also be shooting the upcoming Spring campaign for Dior Homme.
I was amused to see his appearance at the Playboy party this week, Lagerfeld shot the cover feature with 99 F actress Vahina Giocante. He descended into the paparazzi frenzied crowd with friends like Lady Amanda Harlech and Interview EIC Ingrid Sischy. It’s not every day you get to see Playboy bunnies nestling on either side of Karl, and it did make me smile, but of course, it’s probably just another average day in the crazy life…

Monday the Fendi’s turned out en masse to support Delfina Delettrez Fendi’s (pictured above with family friend Karl Lagerfeld) new jewellery line available at Colette. Everyone was talking about two things! Supermodel Irina Lazareanu’s recent engagement with the ex-future Mr. Kate Moss (a.k.a. Babyshambles front-man Pete Doherty); and Charlotte Gainsbourg’s big Vogue announcement: she will be guest-editing the upcoming holiday issue of Paris Vogue! Both events will no doubt be of epic proportions!

Fashion may be all about setting the newest trends, but fashionable eco-consciousness has officially moved from the runway to the boîte de nuit. This Wednesday, super models Carmen Kass and Jessica Stam (pictured above at the recent Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 09 défilé in Milan), will host a teaser party at Le Baron to celebrate the New York opening of “The Greenhouse”, the soon-to-be-launched night club, armed with two fashionable essentials: a secret location and an environmentally aware party manifesto. Join the eco-disco revolution!

There seems to be no end to the latest Marc Jacobs furor, however the designer himself is gearing up for one of the most revealing personal insights ever, as the guest-editor of Visionaire’s upcoming Private edition. Sponsored by Louis Vuitton, and to be sold in a limited-edition gold monogrammed case; Marc Jacobs and Visionaire co-founder Stephan Gan, have called on a bevy of beautiful people to pose nude for their pages. Celebs include Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Mariah Carey, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson, and Selma Blair; along with the usual tops like Gisele Bündchen, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Jamie Dornan, Daria Werbowy and Natalia Vodianova. Jacobs himself appears in one of the last spreads, and according to a Visionaire staffer, were not retouched!
