Last night Cacharel founder Jean Bousquet invited fashion press to a cocktail to view the upcoming collection under new artistic directors Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto of Eley Kishimoto fame. I can’t think of a better partnership and I love the quirky universe they’ve already created!

Ok so maybe I’m not officially back from sale shopping! However one I thing I will pick up before the end of the day are this year’s edition of stamps from couture houses like Franck Sorbier (above), Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Lacroix, Chanel and Givenchy (I feel very guilty – I still have to send Christmas and New Years cards! Eek!).

Welcome back in 2008! First of all I’m convinced this year is going to be amazing – remember how lucky 8 is in Chinese? Yesterday I was chatting with a friend about how sad it was that January was going to be so slow and then of course I remembered – duh! that both Men’s Fashion Week and Haute Couture will soon be upon us! One of the most hotly anticipated events coming is going to be the launch of the new Blason line of fine jewellery at Louis Vuitton! Designed by Camile Miceli and rapper Pharrell Williams, this event, which is being held at a private mansion on the avenue Foch on January 21st, is sure to bring a super bling-bling beginning to 2008!
A fun behind the scenes look at the Richard Prince collaboration at Louis Vuitton for Spring/Summer 2008. Enjoy! x

A calendar of Miss France? In any other country this would be a cheesy addition to an automobile garage or a men’s sporting facility, but in France Peter Lindberg snaps the former Misses France and Yves Saint Laurent dresses them! This is good. This is how it should be.
Le calendrier des Miss France, au profit de l’association ELA qui lutte contre la leucodystrophie. Available now in FNAC and from Nov. 23rd in kiosque.

Normally I’m not that interested in Louis Vuitton handbags, even the past artistic collaborations, but I really like the look of next season’s Richard Prince bags unveiled recently during Paris Fashion Week. Prince is a mega-star in the world of contemporary art, and has never failed to skirt controversy with his rephotographed images, some say bordering on copyright infringement and certainly questioning the hallowed concept of artistic originality and authorship (normally a major concern at luxury houses worldwide, especially Louis Vuitton). While Marc Jacobs is obviously very clued into the art scene, I think a Richard Prince collaboration at Vuitton is certainly a very cheeky and entertaining concept deserving notice, comment, and probably even a little welcomed criticism.
