My lovely and way-awesome fashion friend Zack Ashley, who has just moved to Paris from New York, took some pics at the Just Cavalli opening Tuesday evening on the rue du Faubourg St-Honoré. I love his description of the new boutique, which he calls “very fairy tale slash space ship”. Only in fashion! The opening was celeb-low but the after party warmed up with Kanye West, Dita von Teese, and current Cavalli poster boys Rock&Roll (who are also going to be playing a secret set tonight at the Truskel – shhhh!)

One of the biggest scoops of this week’s fashion week is all about who is DJing and for whom! It seems everyone wants to thrown in their musical two cents! Last night English designer Gareth Pugh was a surprise addition to a Richard Mortimer (of Boombox fame) party. This weekend will see French actress Joana Preiss promoting her new album and spinning at a Rock & Republic party at the Hôtel de Crillon. And Saturday night’s Colette/Self Service party at Le Lup will feature two very hush-hush guests: YSL designer Stefano Pilati and actress/designer Chloë Sevigny!! Get your groove on!!
The cat’s out the bag: American sisters and local Parisian expats Bianca and Sierra Casady (AKA CocoRosie) will be the hot-band-to-watch performing at Prada’s New York fashion week party tomorrow night. It’s not a Prada first for the girls, who were also featured on the Spring 2006 runway soundtrack created by Frédéric Sanchez. Those of us in Paris shouldn’t feel left out however, on February 14th Bianca Casady will be celebrating the opening of her art-meets-fashion-meets-everything-else tea room called Mad Vicky’s Tea Gallery! Yesterday I was chatting with a friend about how sad it was that January was going to be so slow and then of course I remembered – duh! that both Men’s Fashion Week and Haute Couture will soon be upon us! One of the most hotly anticipated events coming is going to be the launch of the new Blason line of fine jewellery at Louis Vuitton! Designed by Camile Miceli and rapper Pharrell Williams, this event, which is being held at a private mansion on the avenue Foch on January 21st, is sure to bring a super bling-bling beginning to 2008!

Many apologies to all for the lack of posts this week! – it’s been a very crazy week and tomorrow I head to Italy for some welcomed R & R. My occupations since Sunday have been trying to finish all my work before I leave, organising travel logistics, making time to catch up with some friends, and planning my wardrobe for my trip as each evening will have a different themed dinner - this included finding a formal dress in white for the first evening, something I have actually managed to pull off! (even though it did include a rather desperate email to my favourite fashion designer yesterday!).
Last night I managed to join my friends Thibaut and Rebecca at the Hemingway Bar at the Ritz. This bar is a great place to go in Paris, especially at the beginning of the week, when most other places are dead. Not long after we arrived Sophia Coppola entered with her husband Thomas Mars. I’ve always wanted a Sophia sighting in Paris, so it was well-worth getting a little behind on my to-do list.
Anyway, Happy Hallowe’en to all and see you back daily on Monday!

Aboard “l’Excellence”, moored at the Quai Henri-IV, this new version of the “people”-heavy dinner party/talk show format will feature a different host each week (goodbye Thierry Ardisson, we’ll miss you!) and kicks off a first season with Jamel Debbouze, Laurent Gerra, and Philippe Torreton.

Having recently told press he could never think of retiring like Valentino (“Fashion is about today and tomorrow, not about yesterday. If you have to be taken seriously because you have a heavy past, I don’t think it’s a good thing. I don’t want to remember, I want to do things and go ahead.”) the Karl Lagerfeld machine keeps pumping: Rodolphe Marconi’s “Karl Lagerfeld Confidentiel” hits theatres on Oct. 10th, and Lagerfeld himself will be the guest Editor-in-Chief of Paris Première programming on Oct. 12th (he has scheduled programmes like the Actors Studio with Johnny Depp; and movies like Robert Wiene’s The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari). He edited October’s German Vogue supplement (including shoots with Claudia Schiffer in Deauville), and will also be shooting the upcoming Spring campaign for Dior Homme.
I was amused to see his appearance at the Playboy party this week, Lagerfeld shot the cover feature with 99 F actress Vahina Giocante. He descended into the paparazzi frenzied crowd with friends like Lady Amanda Harlech and Interview EIC Ingrid Sischy. It’s not every day you get to see Playboy bunnies nestling on either side of Karl, and it did make me smile, but of course, it’s probably just another average day in the crazy life…
